West Elm Preview

I get the preview emails from a lot of furniture stores, etc and just got an email for West Elm's Fall Preview for 2010.  I liked the direction they were going with color ... and even better had already used these colors on a project I just worked on at the Terminus building in Buckhead.  I'll post pictures soon of the condo and the paint color names.  In the meantime, you can see what West Elm will be up to this fall ...

Blue velvet

Earlier I posted about the Togo sofa from Lignet Roset, but you know ... I've always dreamt about and gotten goose bumps for a blue velvet sofa ... color and texture seen here in Exhibit A:

This is the one Anthropologie was selling awhile back, which I loved the look of but never knew if I could get it because it seemed uncomfortable?  So pretty though.

Nice, nice, and nice.  I think one day I will have a blue velvet couch once I find the right frame!

I have wanted one of these since the first time I saw it ... or something similar that it is low to the ground and super comfy and functional.  Me likey alot.

vintage inspired ideas

Just some stuff I ran across and is yummy.
Well, really some vintage pic searching came up when I was having a conversation with my friend about how she could pull together her new home. She just recently moved to Nashville and is a first time homeowner (congrats!) and she loves the "cottage" style. We started flipping through some mags and I talkin' shop, but there are about a million and one ways to be crafty and seek out vintage finds, re-do, re-make, and have fun ... but thought some images might do the trick quickly!

I love clear bottles / containers of all shapes and sizes. So versatile and never out of style. You can use them to store about anything ... from kitchen supplies, food, oils (buy a nifty oil spout/stopper for a few bucks to go with). You can use them as vases, store office supplies, for the bathroom, or the laundry and mudroom. It goes on and on...

I just thought this was too cute - the old green painted cabinet, pure white walls, and those fun decals of vintage inspired frames ... even love the orange accents for the little ones.

Yum ... this blue and white ... I'm in love. Crisp whites everywhere, old rustic woods everywhere, and throw in the metals and glass, very nice. And, it's all about that minimal placement which makes it work.

Clothes pins are awesome. I've used them just as above (in one of our first apartments) ... I spanned an entire living room with a hemp string, added some clothes pins, then viola! we had instant space for art that we could change out every day if we wanted. Put up your fav photos, pull prints out of old vintage books you find at yard sales, cards you get in the mail - anything you want! Super easy and very, very budget friendly.

The randomness of this collage I love and the antlers just make me smile.

Ok, the bicycle pic is just fabulous. Who doesn't love a good old fashion bike ? Minimalism at its best.
